Kristen Stewart Gets a Texas Makeover in New Chanel Campaign
Kristen Stewart might be one of the most polarizing actresses in Hollywood, but when you can count Karl Lagerfeld and Nicolas Ghesquière among your fans, it's probably a lot easier to drown out the haters. After three Balenciaga campaigns (even sticking out the label's transition from Ghesquière to new designer Alexander Wang), and now, a Chanel campaign, we really can't ignore that the actress exudes a high fashion je ne sais quoi.
We first heard the news of Stewart's latest gig back in December, when Lagerfeld announced that she would be the face of Chanel's Métiers d’Art collection, shown in Dallas. And now that the campaign is here, that Texas influence is all too clear—just take a look at those Americana-tinged, spangled, and fringed getups. (Plus, Stewart's signature stare.)

Stewart admitted to Grazia that she was basically fangirling the whole time, calling Lagerfeld "one of the greatest artists of our time." "The [photo shoot] was effortless and he's awesome and he's so sweet," she raved. "The only intimidating thing about [Karl] really is that scary unapproachable facade which is something people project onto him I think." Ah, kindred spirits.
Lagerfeld has been quite the celebrity connoisseur in recent seasons—Kendall Jenner walked the Chanel fall 2014 runway, after all. But there are celeb campaigns, and then there are Chanel celeb campaigns. We're all for this high-fashion, very editorial approach—and the fact that the images were shot by the Kaiser himself is just a plus.
