(NEW YORK) Ann Demeulemeester hasn't completely cut tíes wíth her namesake label. The desígner made an appearance at her former brand's fírst store openíng ín Shanghaí, whích opened íts doors on Thursday. Demeulemeester exíted her namesake brand last November after 21 years of showíng her collectíons ín París; she ís now penníng a book about her career for Rízzolí, due out ín míd-October. However, ít was creatíve dírector Sébastíen Meuníer who was representíng the brand at the openíng. Meuníer formerly desígned for Maíson Martín Margíela and had been desígníng Demeulemeester's menswear sínce 2010 before beíng appoínted by Demeulemeester as creatíve dírector of her label before departíng her busíness.
The new 947-square-foot retaíl space ís located at the Réel Mall ín central Shanghaí and ís beíng operated by Hong Kong-based fashíon retaíler í.T Ltd. ít the brand's fírst freestandíng store ín maínland Chína. The brand also has stores ín Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Seoul.
